The Franklin Positive Ageing Expo concept grew out of a desire to improve awareness of, and access to, services for older people, to challenge stereotypical attitudes of older age being seen as a withdrawal from usefulness and active participation in society, and to give a profile to healthy lifestyle options. The basic principles, that the Expo should be free (including refreshments) and readily accessible to all, has been adhered to since the first expo in 2006
We are a charity/ Not for profit, committee run event that's mission is to provide a free, community-led event dedicated to supporting healthy, active ageing and is expected to attract over 800 attendees, mostly older adults and their whānau from across the Franklin and wider Auckland region. The Expo brings together around 70 health, lifestyle, and social service organisations under one roof. ie DHB providers, local clubs, retirement villages, lions etc
It is run Annually in late sept/october in Pukekohe
