Motutapu Restoration Trust
We are committed to restoring the natural and cultural landscapes of Motutapu island. Since 1994, we have collected and propagated seeds to produce over 400,000 native trees on the Island.
Available Roles:
Are you an organised people-person interested in the environment? Working mainly from home, this role is at the heart of supporting our native reforestation project on Motutapu by managing the administration of our conservation volunteer programme.
Nursery work includes pricking out seedlings from seed trays into tubes and into planter bags, moving plants around the nursery as they transition from newly pricked out seedlings to mature ready-to-plant saplings.
Controlling pest plants or weed is a very important part of the conservation project on Motutapu. We control a number of weeds but the main target is moth plant, an insidious vine that slowly strangles the native trees it attacks.
