Native Tree Planting - Avondale
The Whau River Catchment Trust is a non-profit environmental group, delivering ecological restoration projects all across the catchment with the support of our amazing west Auckland community. We are holding a community planting day to help restore the native coastal forest along the edge of the Motu Manawa-Pollen Island Marine Reserve. Together, we’ll be working to plant native tree species on a bank recently cleared of invasive weeds, to promote a thriving native ecosystem. No plant knowledge or prior experience is needed, however a reasonable level of fitness is required as the terrain is challenging.
The bank we will be planting on is very steep in places, so you will need to be very confident on your feet. Sturdy, closed-in footwear is required.
Volunteers aged 12 or under must have adult supervision at all times.
Sunday 30th August, from 9:30am to 12:00pm. You can stay for the whole time, or leave earlier if you need.
