Native Planting at Ātiu Creek Regional Park

This beautiful and seldom-visited park has extensive harbour frontage with large tracts of native forest, supporting a range of flora and fauna which provides habitat for the nationally threatened New Zealand dabchick and brown teal. It is a stunning coastal area that is now under intensive regeneration - and we need your help! Come along to this community planting day and get ready to dig deep. This year, we are planting approximately 2,100 native plants and trees that have been grown from eco-sourced seeds collected within the park, and propagated at our on-site nursery. Volunteers are welcome to meet us onsite, or we can provide transport from our office in Eden Terrace for a limited number of volunteers. Seats are limited so please contact us in advance at info@cvnz.org.nz or call 0800 567 686 to reserve a seat. For those meeting us at the park, please note there is limited cellphone coverage and the event location is only accessible with CVNZ team leaders. You will receive the address once you register. Please ensure you arrive by 9:15am to meet the team leaders, who will escort volunteers through locked gate access to the planting site. Entry operates convoy-style, so if you arrive late, you will miss the opportunity to join the planting. We will finish our planting at 12:30pm and wrap up with a free BBQ for all our volunteers. If you need to leave early, a team leader will be able to escort you out the park. This event is made possible through funding from Auckland Council Regional Parks.
