Whau River Weeding Bee
Join neighbours and local nature-lovers as we work together on the banks of the Whau River to remove invasive weeds, learn how healthy ecosystems function, and discover which plants belong where (and why). No experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to pitch in. Along the way, you’ll pick up practical knowledge about weeds and restoration, share stories and laughs, and connect with others who care about looking after our local environment. The location is Tony Segedin Esplanade Reserve, 146 Canal Road, Avondale. We'll be gathering at the Canal Rd entrance to the reserve at 9:30am.
Please wear comfortable outdoor clothing and bring a sunhat, sunscreen, closed-in shoes (no jandals or sandals), and a drink bottle. All ages are welcome, though under 12s must have adult supervision. Gloves and tools will be provided.
9:30am - 12:00pm, Sunday 29 March.
