Be on the frontlines of conservation and help protect our maire tawake trees (North Shore based)
Be on the front lines of conservation! Maire tawake trees are an iconic native wetland species. Unfortunately, they are highly susceptible to myrtle rust disease and are at risk of local extinction. Pest Free Kaipātiki is involved with the protection of maire tawake in Kaipātiki, as part of a wider Auckland project. We need two volunteers to help us with monthly fungicide spraying and data collection. This is an ongoing seasonal role, so work will finish in June 2026 and start again in late spring. This is a great role for those who are looking for field experience and are wanting to contribute directly towards the conservation of our native species.
If this sounds like you, please send an email with a cover letter that outlines any relevant experience or studies, and why you would like to volunteer with us. If you have any questions feel free to email them to shanti.truong-george@pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz .
