Bioblitz Guide
The Whau River Catchment Trust is a non-profit that aims to protect and restore the Whau River and the wider catchment, creating spaces where both native wildlife and people can thrive through education and restoration projects.
This role involves leading small groups (5-10) of primary children around Craigavon Park to observe and document the biodiversity found in the area. You will be briefed on the health and safety of the site, some of the species that can be found, and how to use inaturalist and how to make good-quality observations before the event. You will identify organisms by taking pictures and posting them online to the iNaturalist community or with a field guide (which will be provided). The main outcome of the event is to raise awareness in children about their local environment, to learn about the biodiversity that can be found, and mostly, for them to have fun.
The date for the event has not been decided yet, but it will be in early November and the bioblitz site will be at Craigavon Park.
