Native Tree Planting - Rosebank Peninsula

The Whau River Catchment Trust
Conservation | Both/Flexible | Avondale
18 August 2025 to 31 October 2025

The Whau River Catchment Trust is a non-profit environmental group, delivering ecological restoration projects all across the catchment with the support of our amazing west Auckland community. We are currently working to restore the native coastal forest ecosystem on the eastern side of Rosebank Peninsula, Avondale. From August to October this year, that involves planting around 7000 native plants in the ground.

We are looking for some enthusiastic volunteers to help out with this. During the week, you'll be supporting our corporate volunteer groups, preparing plant sites by clearing weeds and large branches, helping to set up for planting events by laying out plants, and of course (most importantly) planting trees! If we get enough volunteers, there'll also be opportunities for weekend planting events.

No planting experience is necessary - just a willingness to learn and a passion for getting outdoors. If you think you'd like to get involved, please get in touch to find out more.

Requirements:

High level of fitness and confidence working on steep, uneven terrain.

Time commitment:

Our corporate events are usually on Thursdays and Fridays, from 9:30am to 12:30pm, but times and dates can vary.
Weekend events fall on the last Sunday of each month, 9:30am - 12:00pm.
You don't need to help out at every event, just whatever works for you. However, it would great if you would be available to help out at more than one event.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
