Ecological Restoration - Track maintenance

The Whau River Catchment Trust is a non-profit environmental group, delivering ecological restoration projects all across the catchment with the support of our amazing west Auckland community. We need some helping hands to do some major maintenance on one our traplines along Rosebank Peninsula, including removing fallen logs and cutting back branches and weeds. The work is quite physical, and the terrain can be challenging (especially if the ground is slippery from recent rain), so you will need to be fit and confident on your feet. We will provide all volunteers with hand tools, gloves and eye protection, plus juice and biscuits for morning tea. Meeting at the accessway to the reserve, between 26 and 32 Jomac Place, Avondale. The work will be lot of fun, and the site overlooks the beautiful Manawa Motu Marine Reserve, so if you feel like getting off the beaten track and doing something adventurous then why not come along!

Requirements:

You must bring sturdy, closed-in shoes or boots (work boots, gumboots and tramping shoes are all ideal); clothing suitable for outdoor work, including a raincoat if it's raining; and a drink bottle.
All volunteers need to be over the age of 15.

Time commitment:

2 hours (9:30am - 11:30am) on Sunday 29 June.
