Planting at Gittos Domain
We look forward to hosting you for a Planting day at Gittos Domain, the native coastal forest at Blockhouse Bay.
On this day, we will plant native trees in the area that was once dominated by exotic trees like wattles and privets. Ongoing efforts had cleared patches of weeds and freed up living space for our natives.
With your effort to plant native trees, the vegetation will soon provide shelter and protection along the coast and walkway, making the place more pleasant for recreation and conservation.
Note that some areas require physical fitness, e.g., carrying tools and planting on slopes.
Please book and confirm your spot with CVNZ using the link below:

For this volunteer day, you are welcome to meet us on-site at 9am.

What to wear: Please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and something you don’t mind getting muddy (gumboots, hiking shoes, work boots, trainers) and appropriate outdoor clothing (lightweight long sleeved clothing and trousers are needed to protect yourself from cuts and scratches and insect bites/stings).

Please bring with you a hat, raincoat/waterproof jacket, sunblock, a snack, full water bottle and any medication you may need (hayfever medication, inhalers etc).
