Weed spraying

The Whau River Catchment Trust is a non-profit environmental group, delivering ecological restoration projects all across the catchment with the support of our amazing west Auckland community. We are looking for some keen volunteers who can help us out on site with weed spraying using a knapsack. Mainly we're aiming to tackle kikuyu and other low-lying weeds along our plantings, and to prepare new planting areas.

It would be ideal if you have a current Growsafe certificate. If not, you can still apply but you must be available on either the 4th or 5th of April to take a Growsafe course.

We can be pretty flexible with time and day, and are happy to discuss to find a time that best suits you.

We can provide all spraying equipment and PPE, though if you have any of your own gear feel free to use that instead.

If this sounds like something you'd like to do, we'd love to hear from you!

Requirements:

A current Growsafe certificate is ideal but not necessary provided you are available on either the 4th or 5th of April to sit a Growsafe course.

Time commitment:

A one-off job will take up to 2 hours. There will be at least a dozen of these throughout the year, and it's entirely up to you how many of these you want to help out with - even if it's just one.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
