9 November 2024

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Northcote's newly established greenway, tracing the Te Ara Awataha stream through the heart of the town with Kaipātiki Project. This free outdoor event offers something for everyone, promising a memorable day surrounded by nature. Join us at Puāwai | Cadness Reserve, 6-8 Cadness St, Northcote.

Greenway Regeneration: Dive into hands-on activities with native plants, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of the local ecosystem guided by expert ecologists from the Kaipātiki Project, and discover the wonders of nature in your own backyard.

Nature Art and Journaling Workshop: Unleash your creativity! Join renowned ecological artist Lesley Alexander in a unique nature journaling session using natural materials that will be provided. The attendees will take objects found around the greenway and sketch them in provided journals.

Nature Detective Corner: Become a nature detective with microscopes, stream testing kits, bird identification, and more. Uncover the secrets of the local environment and learn about its fascinating inhabitants.

Nature Scavenger Hunt: Learn more about the Te Ara Awataha stream through identifying different native species by using specially designed clue sheet to uncover native plants, animals, and hidden treasures around the greenway.

Rubbish Clean-Up: Give back to the community by participating in a streamside rubbish clean-up, contributing to the preservation of this natural haven.

Free Treats: Enjoy complimentary ice blocks and a well-deserved BBQ, making your day even sweeter.

Don't miss this chance to get closer to nature, make lasting memories, and be a part of something meaningful. The Make Your Mark Nature Event is not just an event; it's an experience that celebrates the beauty of our community and the environment.
