Weed Busting at Waterview Heritage Area
Our collaborative group, Friends of Oakley Creek, invites you to participate in the weeding event at Waterview Heritage Area.
Weed control is part of an essential plant maintenance of our young native trees. Weed can grow relatively fast to smother the trees, especially in hotter season, hence preventing the trees from access to sunlight and space. This will dramatically kill young plants.
Come and make a difference to save our native young trees!

For this volunteer day, you are welcome to meet us onsite or meet at our office at 8:30am at 10 New North Rd Eden Terrace to get a ride in our van. Seats are limited in our vans, so you MUST contact Teresa at tma@cvnz.org.nz or text 021 496 890 to reserve a seat. For those meeting onsite, please meet our team at 9:30am.
What to wear: Please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and something you don’t mind getting muddy (gumboots, hiking shoes, work boots, trainers) and appropriate outdoor clothing (lightweight long sleeved clothing and trousers are needed to protect yourself from cuts and scratches and insect bites/stings).
What to bring: CVNZ will supply all of the tools and equipment required for the day. Please bring with you a hat, raincoat/waterproof jacket, sunblock, a snack, full water bottle and any medication you may need (hayfever medication, inhalers etc). We will have extra water to refill bottles, sunblock, snacks and insect repellent with us on the day.
