Conservation Planting along the Papakura Stream

Join us in the ongoing restoration of the Papakura Stream, a 63km freshwater river facing significant environmental challenges. Once surrounded by indigenous forests and kahikatea swamps, this stream has seen the loss of most of it's natural forest due to agricultural, industrial and urban developments. Today, the stream is dealing with the modern problems of litter, dumping and other man-made pollutants. CVNZ and our amazing volunteers have been working hard to restore the mauri (lifeforce) of this important awa, and have been bringing the community together to remove pest plant species, clean up litter and plant natives along it's banks and reserves. In 2024, we aim to plant over 35,000 plants along the Papakura Stream.
