Community Planting at Ātiu Creek Regional Park

This year Conservation Volunteers has made a commitment to plant another 5000 trees at Ātiu Creek Regional Park to help restore this park back to native bush and achieve our aims of turning this area into a predator free peninsula.

This beautiful and little visited park has extensive harbour frontage with large tracts of native forest supporting a range of flora and fauna which provides habitat for the nationally threatened New Zealand dabchick and brown teal. This is a stunning coastal area that is now under intensive regeneration. We would love for you to come out and escape from the city for the day to help restore this beautiful site by planting hundreds of native trees and shrubs along the gully to filter contaminants before they reach the waterway and provide important shade and habitat for native fauna. We can provide transportation on site from our office in Eden Terrace for a limited number of volunteers, please get in touch to learn more and book your spot.

Requirements:

What to bring: Gumboots or closed toe shoes, appropriate clothing, rain and sun protective gear, a snack and water. We provide all tools and equipment. Please note: Children 14 years and under are to be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Time commitment:

If you would like to get a ride in our van the meeting time at our office is 7:30am and we will return before 3:30pm. Otherwise, you're welcome to meet us onsite at 9:30am. Seats are limited and bookings are essential.
