Weed Control
Our weed busting volunteers are passionate about their work and this role best suits people who want to volunteer regularly as a reasonable degree of skill is required to identify the weeds. If you want to volunteer regularly and become skilled at identifying and controlling plant pests then we need you! Training provided.
Must have a good level of fitness as weed control often takes place on steep hillsides or involves wading through knee high kikuyu.
An all day commitment is required as the nursery is located on Motutapu Island and access is by ferry (and truck, once on the island). The ferry leaves Downtown Auckland at 9:15am and returns at 4:00 midweek or 5:00 on Sundays. Ferry cost is $31.10 return.
Our volunteer days are on Wednesday or sometimes Friday during the week and twice a month on Sunday. Although a full day commitment is required, the amount of work done is no more than 4 hours due to travel time.
