Gardener - School Garden

We’re looking for a passionate volunteer to help maintain our secondary school garden and support student learning experiences in horticulture.

About the Role:
Maintain and care for the school garden (planting, watering, weeding, pruning, soil care).
Assist with harvesting and keeping the garden tidy.
Support opportunities for students to explore gardening and sustainability.

Ideal for:
Semi-retired individuals or anyone who loves outdoor work and interacting with young people.

Requirements:

Gardening Skills: Basic knowledge of planting, pruning, watering, soil care, and pest control.
Physical Ability: Comfortable with outdoor work and light physical tasks.
Safety Awareness: Proper use of tools and adherence to health and safety guidelines.
Organization: Ability to plan and prioritize seasonal tasks.
Communication: Positive interaction with staff and students; explain gardening concepts simply.
Adaptability: Flexible with weather and changing garden needs.
Reliability: Consistent attendance and commitment.
Student Engagement: Support hands-on horticultural learning experiences.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

4-8 hours per week (negotiable) and subject to availability - could be one day per week.
