Wayfinder - Middlemore Hospital
Our friendly and welcoming Wayfinders meet and greet patients, whaanau and visitors on arrival. Offer assistance and directions to clinics, wards, toilets, meeting rooms and other facilities. They offer reassurance, especially to those who may be distressed or unfamiliar with the hospital environment.
Whakawhanaungatanga (establishing relationships and relating well to others) helps create a welcoming positive experience for patients and whaanau.
Training and induction with ongoing support will be provided.
This is an active role which will keep you busy and you will meet new people from all walks of life. We are seeking applicants with a friendly, warm and caring manner, able to listen and communicate well.
To provide Kotahitanga (togetherness) by working with patients and whaanau, supporting them with access to wheelchairs or assisting them to find a place to rest on the way to their location.
You will be able to identify and assist people who are lost or distressed but not actively seeking assistance.
We ask for a commitment of one shift per week for a minimum of 6 months, more if you feel comfortable doing so. All applicants will be required to undergo a police check.
When : Shifts of 3-4 hours per week covering morning, or afternoon from Monday to Friday
