Event support (Noth Shore based)
Do you love to chat? Want to get experience with community-based events? Keen to contribute to ecological restoration without getting your hands dirty?
We have an ongoing need for volunteers to join our fun events team. Most events are in reserves in Kaipātiki (North Shore) but we also have some indoors, e.g. at libraries, schools and our HQ in Glenfield.
What would I be doing? - Arriving before the start of the event to help PFK staff member set up (flags, tables, signs, games, food, pamphlets and so on); Helping set up and oversee children’s activities; Greeting newcomers and helping them feel welcoming, chatting to them and helping them find the information or activity they are interested in; Speaking to people in their own language (if you are able); ;Signing people up to PFK’s newsletter and volunteering opportunities; Counting and recording numbers of attendees; Being a PFK ambassador;; Staffing the BBQ or food table; General tidy up during and after; Packing up
Transport to events (petrol or public transport costs will be reimbursed); Familiarity with or interest in ecological restoration; Language skills (e.g. Chinese, Korean) would be a plus; PFK Event Team T shirt supplied
2-4 hours per event (up to twice per month)
