Teaching Assistant (Smart Tech for Seniors)
You’ll help guide senior participants through digital tasks such as using smartphones, email, video calling, online banking, and more. With your support, learners will feel empowered to connect, communicate, and stay safe online. This role suits someone patient, tech-savvy, and community-minded.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one assistance with devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Support the delivery of digital skills classes and assist during group discussions.
Help learners troubleshoot common tech problems with kindness and patience.
Set up devices, digital tools, and presentation materials.
Encourage learners to ask questions and explore new tech safely.
Collect feedback and help promote the program to potential participants.
Confidence using digital tools (e.g., email, browsers, social media, Zoom, etc.).
Patient, clear communicator, especially with beginners.
Passion for digital inclusion and bridging the digital divide.
Able to commit to regular class times (weekly or term-based).
Friendly, respectful, and enthusiastic about working with older adults.
Costs: $15 for new NZ Police Check (or free/no cost for students with proof of current study).
2.5 hours per week
