Volunteer Opportunity in Mangere– Become a Literacy Coach!
Are you passionate about literacy and keen to make a positive difference in your community? The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust (RYALT) is looking for a caring and committed volunteer to support an adult student in Mangere. You’ll meet regularly at a local library or community centre to provide one-on-one literacy support—and help someone open the door to new opportunities through learning.

Who We're Looking For You don’t need teaching experience—just a willingness to help, patience, and a genuine desire to support others. We’ll guide you every step of the way. If you’re friendly, reliable, and believe in the power of literacy to change lives, we’d love to hear from you!
- Preferably has an educational background (but not essential) - Patient and supportive in their approach - Good computer skills - Fluent in English – strong spoken, reading, and writing abilities - Reliable and committed - A friendly, empathetic personality - Full training and ongoing support provided – no teaching experience required!
2–3 hours per week total- 30–45 minute lessons, held twice or three times a week - In person, at a public venue such as a local library or community centre and 1-1.5 hours lesson preparation & record keeping
