Teaching Assistant

You will assist and instruct, provide one-on-one guidance to participants, and help create an inclusive and engaging learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, community engagement, and supporting learners of all ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist instructors in delivering educational sessions and workshops.
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to learners, ensuring they understand the material.
Help set up and manage learning resources, materials, and technology.
Encourage and motivate participants, adapting support to their individual needs.
Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support the administrative aspects of classes, such as attendance tracking and feedback collection.
Assist in promoting programs and engaging with the community to increase participation.

Essential:
Passion for education, community learning, and supporting diverse learners.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide patient, clear, and encouraging support to learners.
Comfortable using technology, especially for Senior Tech sessions.
Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled classes.
A collaborative and adaptable approach to different learning settings.

Desirable:
Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring.
Familiarity with digital tools used in education (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom).
Knowledge or experience in relevant subject areas (e.g., dance, english, maths, ESOL, technology, academic tutoring, yoga, or wellness).
Understanding of safeguarding and inclusivity in educational settings.

Costs: $15 for new NZ Police Check (or free/no cost for students with proof of current study).

A Police background check is required for this role.
