Helensville Show Catering/kitchen helpers

The fabulous Helensville Lions Club feed our many volunteers on Show Day and require some help in the kitchen, prepping and serving the lunches and cleaning up afterwards. You will be working in the main kitchen, with a group of about 12-15 Lions. The Equestrian judges/stewards/team are served their lunch out in a tent in the Equestrian rings, so some people may end up there.

The role involves working with a friendly bunch of older people and generally ensuring the lunch is ready when the workers all troop in between 11am-2pm for their breaks. They are hot and hungry and thirsty after the morning outside (hopefully in the sun!) and need a nourishing meal, drink and a sit down. You will be helping facilitate that. The Lions also run a tuck shop, so there may be some work with the food they serve through that (sandwiches, pies etc).

Comfortable shoes are a good idea, as you will be on your feet most of the day and we want you to be comfortable.

Requirements:

If you have catering or hospo experience that will be excellent, but not essential.
A happy disposition and ability to follow instruction from the Lions' Team Leader is all you really need.
You will need transport to get out to Helensville from the city, if you are coming from Auckland.

Time commitment:

Saturday 22nd February, from 8am until about 3pm, including breaks.

Getting started:
