The Helensville A&P Association held it’s first show in 1900. It is always held on the last Saturday in February and is easily the biggest event on Helensville’s annual calendar.

Helensville Show is an iconic small-town agricultural show, with a mission to promote excellence in agriculture through competition, demonstration, education and entertainment. In the 21st century we also endeavour to bridge the rural/urban divide and give our city neighbours a taste of country life.

Because the show has so much variety, there’s something for everyone. Our competition schedules cover horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pet dogs, calf club, pet lambs & goats, cooking, horticulture, art and craft, painting, photography, garden produce, and needlework – plus we have a big children’s section. And don't miss the Highland Dancing!

Demonstrations of things like dog trialing, shearing, farrier-work, blacksmithing, fencing take place throughout Show day.

Entertainment ranges from community groups performing on the community stage, to bands on the main stage, acts around the grounds and of course amusements and rides and puzzles.

Likewise there is heaps to see in our Trade area, with stalls ranging from the latest in agricultural equipment and lifestyle products through to plants, clothes and crafts. There are plenty of choices for food and of course coffee, ice creams and candy floss.

If you're on a budget, bring your own picnic and sit up the hill watching the activities below. There are plenty of free family activities. We have even made entry free for children, 16 years and under.

We are proudly a Zero Waste and Smokefree event. And don't forget to bring your own water bottle and fill it at the Laser Plumbing Silverdale free water truck (in fact they even have a free dog drinking bowl!).

The Helensville Show is organised by a volunteer Executive of nine people and one paid Show Manager/Secretary, who all work hard throughout the year to maintain our grounds, organise the next Show and fundraise to help finance it. On Show week it takes over 100 volunteers to set up, run and pack down the Show. If you are able to help in any of those roles, we would love to welcome you to our Helensville Show volunteer family.
