Trapline volunteer
We are looking for people who don't mind the sight of a dead animal or two to join our roster of volunteer trappers working to reduce the number of possums, rats and mice running around Hobsonville. We provide full training and all the equipment so all you do is head out every 4 or 6 weeks (depending on the number of people on the roster) for between 1 - 2 hours and follow the line of traps that are set in the bush. You clear any "visitors" who decided to hang around, check the bait and reset the trap if its needed.
With some simple data entry on an app to report your catches (or email to our co-ordinator) it should be no more than 3 hours of your time each trip and can be done at a time and day that's convenient to you. Kids are welcome to join you and get involved, we just ask that anyone under 16 has an adult with them for supervision and safety.
Help us reduce those pesky pests that are preying on birds and invertebrates. Less rats = more birds, it really is that simple!
We are looking for people who are able to walk for up to an hour, bend and manage clearing traps.
The more time you can commit the more pests we can catch but we would only ask for one session a month.
Under 16's can be involved, we just ask that they have an adult supporting them.
Up to 2 hours once a month (or possibly less frequently). You will join a small roster so you can organise cover if you can't make your allocated time or step in and help others when they are away.
Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
