Garden Helper in a Community Teaching Garden

We are looking for volunteers with a keen desire to garden and produce healthy food and help with a variety of tasks in our Massey teaching garden. There will be weeding, composting, growing seeds, planting seedlings, small building projects like new beds, maintenance of the plantings, pruning, grass cutting, helping with workshops or small events at the garden, and you will be helping 'young gardeners' as they learn. Every season produces new tasks!

We want to encourage the community to create their own backyard garden, to re-cycle materials otherwise destined for the refuse, to inspire individual effort and to reap the rewards of free veggies and fruits at the end of each volunteer session.

Requirements:

Ideally you will have an interest in gardening and live in the West Auckland area so you don't have to travel too far. We provide all tools and equipment. Just bring a drink, gloves and a hat in summer.

Time commitment:

As much as the volunteer wishes. Every Wed or Sat or both, 10:00am-12:00pm (or longer if you wish) all year round. Even just one hour of your time on Wed or Sat will be most helpful.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
