Dinner Host

We like to “do with” rather than “do for” where possible. As meal hosts, volunteers will take direction from staff to assist with setting the table, supporting residents to eat, topping up drinks, making cups of tea and other related jobs. Volunteers will enjoy interacting with residents, and providing them with company as they enjoy their dinner. We want volunteers to help revitalise the dining experience, so that it feels more like home: warm, loving and enjoyable.

The role of volunteers revolves around companionship, close and continuous relationships and taking part in meaningful activities with residents in their daily lives. Residents range from in their forties up to (and over!) one hundred years old.

Requirements:

The ideal volunteer has a big heart and loves helping and supporting others. We look for individuals who are empathetic, but also understand the importance of empowering residents to do what they can for themselves.

Time commitment:

We are currently looking for volunteers to help out for one evening each week (Monday-Sunday) from 4:30pm – 6pm. We also have this opportunity to help out in the daytime each week (Monday – Sunday) from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Six months commitment is ideal, however we understand if life gets a little busy a times.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
