Horse Leader
Do you have experience with horses and patience for children? We provide horse riding therapy programmes for children with a wide range of disabilities and special needs, and we are looking for regular volunteers to assist with our programme on a weekly basis. The role of the Horse Leader involves preparing horses for riding therapy sessions, leading the horse throughout the sessions, ensuring welfare of the horse and its safe behaviour for rider, and following the directions of the coach in charge of the session.
Ongoing training is provided to all volunteers, and you'll be working with a friendly and supportive team.
Some previous experience with horses is required, and willingness to learn our methods and safety procedures. A reasonable level of fitness is required and the ability to keep up with the horse at a trot.
One morning per week during school term time, from 8:00am - 1:00pm.
Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays.
We are looking for an ongoing commitment of 1 year or more.
