Neil at Selwyn Village

14 Nov 2017 | Volunteer Stories

I volunteered here to make a contribution towards helping senior residents with limited mobility. My main function is to drive a buggy providing transport for them to various parts of the village (it’s quite large) and also to deliver mail parcels, put on daily movies, etc.

I actually grew up down the road from the village but was attracted by the idea of driving the buggy (which is fun) and being able to volunteer on a part-time basis which suited me.

The senior residents that I meet are invariably cheerful and appreciate the buggy service which they can book to suit them. The staff at Selwyn Village are friendly, everyone says hello and volunteers are thanked for their efforts.
