Collectors Needed – Firefighter Steps Challenge for Child Cancer Foundation

We’re looking for a few friendly volunteers to help with some short collection shifts next week for the Firefighter Step Challenge, raising funds for the Child Cancer Foundation NZ.

We have a wonderful supporter, Scottie, who is the Chief Firefighter at Auckland Airport and an incredibly generous and kind man. This month, Scottie is taking on a stair-climbing challenge at the airport, and we’ve been asked to help with collecting donations while he climbs.

We were there for one afternoon last week, and we raised an amazing $1,030 in just 2½ hours! It’s a really lovely experience. Everyone is in holiday mode, people are happy and friendly, and you get to meet some wonderful people along the way.

The best part? You don’t need to ask anyone for money! A simple “Hi” and a friendly chat is all it takes. We have a branded collection bucket, CCF sashes to wear, and a Child Cancer Foundation video playing to help spread the word about this fantastic cause.

Parking is free, with a large car park nearby, so it’s easy to pop in and help.

The firefighters have asked if we can find some volunteers for the following short shifts:

Thursday 22 October: 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Friday 23 October: 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm

If you can spare a couple of hours, or even the full shift, we’d be so grateful for your help. Every donation makes a difference to children and families living with childhood cancer, and it’s a really rewarding way to support such an important cause.

Could you lend a hand?

Simply reply to let me know which day and times you might be available. Please feel free to share if you know someone who might like to help, too!

Thank you so much for your support.
