Grocery Shopping Support - Glen Innes

Our member is looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to meet them at a supermarket in Glen Innes once a fortnight, preferably on a Tuesday. They are independent with transport and can travel to and from the supermarket themselves, but would appreciate some assistance while shopping. This may include helping to locate items, reading labels and product information, and providing companionship during the trip. Training is provided. About Blind Low Vision NZ: Every day, an average of nine New Zealanders reach out to us for support with vision loss. We provide practical and emotional help so people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision can live independently. We meet people in their homes or at local offices, advocate for accessible communities, and work to remove barriers so everyone can participate fully in life. At Blind Low Vision NZ, no goal is too big or too small.

Requirements:

Ideally, you live within local area. Preferred qualities: Empathy, reliability, punctual and a desire to learn more about vision loss.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Tuesday fortnightly. For the sake of continuity, we would appreciate a commitment of a minimum 6 months.
