Website Developer
Purpose of Role
To design, develop, and implement a new free website for the toy library that is attractive, easy to use, and simple for committee members to update and maintain. The role will also investigate free or low-cost website hosting options and support the use of the toy library’s existing domain name and catalogue.
Key Tasks
Plan, design, and build a new website for the toy library, which integrates to our existing toy library catalogue page
Work with committee members to identify suitable structure, gather content and understand website needs
Create a website structure and supporting templates that are easy for committee members to update without technical knowledge
Recommend and set up a free or low-cost website platform and hosting solution
Connect the website to our existing domain name
Organise and upload website content
Responsive design: ensure the website is visually appealing, in line with our brand, and easy to navigate across all devices and screen sizes
Set up simple processes or guides for committee members to maintain the website
Website design or development experience
Knowledge of free website platforms such as Google Sites, Wix, Webador, Squarespace, Weebly or similar
Good communication and organisation skills
Ability to explain technical information in simple language
Creative and problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Computer and internet access
Attend committee meetings (online) as required to provide progress updates on the development and build
