Cookathon Coordinator – North Shore

Bellyful is a nationwide charity with 25 branches across Aotearoa. We cook and deliver free, home-cooked meals to families with babies and young children who are going through a tough time and do not have support around them.

Bellyful North Shore is looking for a volunteer Cookathon Coordinator to help plan and lead our regular cooking sessions.

Cookathons take place approximately every 2 to 6 weeks, depending on demand. These are sessions where volunteers gather in a local kitchen to cook and freeze meals that are later delivered to whānau in our community.

As Cookathon Coordinator, you will:

Organise volunteers to attend each Cookathon
Book the community kitchen
Order and organise ingredients (this can be shared with another volunteer)
Lead the cooking session on the day
Ensure food safety standards are followed
Keep simple records of meals cooked
Work closely with the Branch Coordinator and Recipient Coordinator as part of a local leadership team

This is a volunteer leadership role and may be shared between two people.

Requirements:

You do not need to be a chef, but confidence around kitchen logistics is helpful.

We’re looking for someone who:

Enjoys working with people and bringing a team together
Has good communication and organisation skills
Is confident coordinating a small group
Cares about supporting families in the community
Is comfortable using a computer and email
Is willing to follow food safety and health & safety procedures (training provided)

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Approximately 8 hours per month, including planning and attending Cookathons.
