Event Assistants
EcoMatter’s Every Bite, Cooking with Confidence (with the Deaf Wellbeing Society’s Natasha) event is being held at Auckland Deaf Society on Wednesday 6 May.
Every Bite is a four-week programme which supports people to use food well, waste less food, and save money. This Every Bite programme opening event is for Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing people. There will be a professional NZSL interpreter. Dinner is provided.
We are looking for volunteers to help set up and pack down the venue, as well as to provide some general help during the event itself. Following directions of the Events Co-ordinator, you will be setting up tables and chairs, assisting during the event, and then helping pack everything away again at the end.
If you have any experience with Deaf community or deaf people, such as knowing some sign language, we would love your help signing people in at the beginning of the event, and filling in a survey form at the end.
Able to follow instructions.
Volunteers must either..
Be physically capable of setting up and taking down event furniture. Or
Have experience with deaf and hard of hearing people, an understanding of Deaf culture, and / or know some sign language. Must also be patient and considerate.
