Front of House Visitor Host at Highwic

Highwic is managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, New Zealand’s leading national historic heritage agency. At Highwic we have a group of volunteers who work alongside our staff to welcome and host visitors. This role is ideal for people with a strong interest in local history and who enjoy interacting with the public.

Overview :
• Meet and greet visitors
• Provide a short introduction and/or tour guiding
• Help oversee visitors in the house
• Process sales in the shop
• You may be asked to help open or close the display rooms
• Occasionally invited to help host at events and functions

Requirements:

What we are looking for:
• Outgoing people who enjoying interacting with the public
• Strong communication skills and an ability to share the stories of the house and family with our visitors
• An interest in New Zealand heritage and social history
• Experience working with a till to make sales is an advantage, but not essential.

Time commitment:

Our Front of House volunteers generally commit to working once a week or fortnight on weekdays: Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, for a morning (10am – 1pm), or afternoon (1pm – 4pm).

We are currently in need of volunteers to fill, Wednesday Morning (10am-1pm), Wednesday afternoon (1pm-4 pm), and Friday afternoon (1pm-4pm) .
