Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) is looking for community-minded people to help share life-saving water safety information with communities across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

As a DPA Water Safety Ambassador, you will engage with communities and support the delivery of water safety education through events, community sessions, and cultural learning opportunities.

What you’ll do:
• Support diverse cultural learning opportunities for water safety
• Share water safety information at events and community sessions
• Help communities enjoy the water safely

No prior knowledge is required — full training will be provided.

DPA has been helping communities stay safe around water for over 30 years, and we are looking for motivated individuals to work with us.

Requirements:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, and public speaking.

Fluency in English and one other language.

The ability to build genuine rapport and trust with community members, demonstrating cultural awareness and competencies.

Ability to translate/interpret written and spoken content in another language.

A respectful approach to addressing cultural, religious, and traditional practices that may influence safety behaviours.

A visible commitment to personal water safety practices to reinforce educational messages (Peer Modelling).

Full NZ Driver's License.

Willingness to complete role-specific DPA training.

Time commitment:

Casual: 10- 20 hours a week
