Chair/Co-Chair

Purpose of Role
To provide leadership to the committee and employees so the toy library is compliant and functioning effectively as a beloved community resource.

Key Tasks

  • Support committee members and employees in fulfilling their roles
  • Ensure the Charities Register is up to date and accurate
  • Act as a contact person for the landlord
  • Act as contact person for Toy Library Federation
  • Prepare the annual plan in consultation with the committee and report on progress throughout the year
  • Oversee the management of the library functions and activities
  • Chair monthly meetings and AGM
  • Work alongside the Secretary to prepare the meeting agendas
  • Ensure decisions made by the committee are implemented
  • Keep up to date with relevant news and developments and feed back to the committee as required

Skills Required

  • Understanding of legal and fiduciary obligations of registered charities, trustees and employers
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Community-minded, but also practical

Commitment Required

  • Attend monthly meetings and any special meetings as required
  • Additional time for development of projects and assisting with annual events
  • Additional time for planning, documenting, assisting committee members, and keeping up to date with other toy libraries.

We currently have two chairs - co-chairing in the role. One co-chair is stepping down to focus on a marketing role in the committee.

Computer and internet access
Photo ID and 2 x referees

Time commitment:

You will work from home. Committee meetings (1-2hrs) are mostly online - once per month, though we do try to meet in person a few times a year. AGM meetings are in person at the toy library in Green Bay. Time required for the role depends on your experience and what is happening at the time in the toy library - around 1-4 hours per week.
