Antiques/Speciality Items Researcher
We are seeking an experienced volunteer who knows a rare find when you see one, to support the antiques/speciality items section of our op-shop in Panmure. This role involves researching items prior to pricing, and display of unique collectible and antique / vintage / specialised tems donated to Habitat for Humanity. Good communication skills are required as you will be communicating with Auction Houses.
This role is ideal for someone with an interest in antiques, retro items, or one‑of‑a‑kind treasures, and who enjoys working as part of a friendly team.
Tasks include:
✨ Assessing donated collectible and vintage items
✨ Pricing items with guidance from ReStore Manager
✨Creating attractive, well‑presented displays
✨Chatting with customers and answering questions about special finds
✨Supporting staff and other volunteers when needed
- Previous experience working with collectibles, antiques. speciality and rare items
- A careful eye and able to easily identify a rare or antique item when you see one
- Friendly, reliable, and happy to be part of a team with a can-do attitude
- Good knowledge in collectibles and a willingness to learn is all we ask.
- Good communication skills - both verbal and written.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Hours and days are flexible to suit your availability but minimum of one half day per week - must be during business hours which is 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri or 9am to 4pm Sat /Sun.
