English Conversation Group Co-Facilitator

Are you keen to support English language learners gain confidence and skills?!
We are looking for a volunteer to co-facilitate our 'Speak English Easy Cafe' - a programme for non-English speakers to practice and improve their English in a friendly, welcoming environment.

This relaxed group offers learners a chance to connect with other locals, practice English in a safe space and make new friends. We currently have a great facilitator, however due to growing group numbers we need an additional enthusiastic facilitator to ensure the programme runs consistently each week. Co-facilitation will also enable us to more successfully support the differing English levels within the group.

The group runs on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. during term time (not during school holidays) at Beach Haven Community House - 130 Beach Haven Road, Beach Haven. If you speak English well, are confident facilitating a group and are happy to work as part of a team (and individually when required) please reach out to discuss this role further.

Requirements:

Reliable and punctual.
Good group facilitation skills.
Passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
Happy to work with small and larger groups.
Good grasp of the English Language and able to support participants to practice speaking.
Fun and able to improvise on the spot when needed.
ESOL or adult education experience preferred (but not essential). Preference given local residents.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

1.5 hours per week during term time between 10.30am-12pm on Wednesday's.
