Social Media Manager
We are a tight-knit team of four with experience developing social media for the Moths and Butterflies of New Zealand Trust. At present the team is led by the overworked founding trustee who confesses that she can't keep up with the speed that social media and AI are moving. She is happy to continue developing the overall social media strategy but needs someone with the ability to interpret this with the rest of the team to ensure the strategy and campaigns are clearly and appropriately put in place in a timely manner.
At present the team meets online for half an hour each Monday, 10am.
You will need strong communication, empathy, and leadership skills as well as essential expertise like organisation, time management, problem-solving, ethics and basic legal knowledge (understanding the terms and conditions of contests for example).
But wait... there's more! Excellent spoken English, spelling and grammar is important for this role to support clear communication within a linguistically diverse team because our social media messages are highly regarded by professional Lepidopterists. And then, of course, also required is experience in social media apps (constantly changing!) and creative software such as Canva and Adobe.
Your knowledge about NZ's butterflies and moths and our flora and fauna will grow through your work. We run a "Create Butterfly Habitat" course online (free to the successful applicant) and our website is also loaded with resources.
