Events Volunteer - Māpura Studios

Māpura Studios is a creative space providing art programmes for people living with disability and diversity, as well as the wider community. We believe in the power of art to foster connection, confidence, and wellbeing. Our studio is a supportive and inclusive environment where creativity is celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to express themselves through art.

We are seeking friendly, proactive, and reliable Events Volunteers to support Māpura Studios’ community events, and creative workshops. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, helping behind the scenes, and contributing to events that celebrate creativity and inclusion. You’ll assist the team in preparing, setting up, and coordinating events that showcase the work and spirit of our artists and community.

• Assist with planning and preparation for studio events, exhibitions, and workshops
• Help set up and pack down event spaces (displays, tables, signage, refreshments, etc.)
• Greet guests and provide information about Māpura Studios and its programmes
• Support staff and artists during events, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
• Help coordinate volunteers and manage materials or resources on the day
• Take photos or help document events (if comfortable and approved)
• Assist with event promotion and communication (e.g. distributing flyers, sharing updates)

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Friendly, approachable, and confident engaging with the public
• Organised and dependable, with good attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a team and helping with practical tasks
• Ability to adapt and think on your feet during busy events
• A positive, can-do attitude and enthusiasm for creativity and community

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Commitment
• Flexible hours depending on the events calendar
• Most events take place during weekdays or occasional evenings/weekends
• Minimum commitment of 3 months, with opportunities to stay involved longer
