Toy Processing Officer - Grey Lynn Toy Library
Over a period of weeks, you’ll need to go through the cupboard, toy by toy. For each toy, check all pieces are there - or look for spares in our spare parts box if not. Allocate the toy a number in our toy management system. Brand each piece of the toy with a soldering iron - some toys have tens or even hundreds of pieces. Carefully document each piece of the toy in our toy management system, eg “1x bacon piece” or “2x yellow screws” or “5x grey squares”. Photograph the toy and upload the photo. Print out a toy label and stick it on the bag.
We have all the equipment you need to do this job at the library - but bringing your own laptop would be helpful.
Some toys are already in our system but have been placed in the cupboard simply because the label was falling off, or the bag was broken, or so many pieces have been lost that it needs to be re-labelled. Others may be freshly donated, and sadly some may have to be thrown away as they’re no longer usable.
We open Wednesday 9.30-11.30 and Saturday 9.30-11.30 so you’ll need to work in the library at that time. Our librarian and other volunteers will be able to help you if you get stuck.
The work is ongoing as we regularly have new toys donated, and older toys get broken, or need relabelling.
Excellent English, ability to work methodically without help, ability to make decisions, ability to work with computer software (our Toy Management system).
Can bring your own laptop.
Either or both of Wednesday 9.30-11.30 and Saturday 9.30-11.30
