Ad hoc driver Māpura Studios - disability arts!
Māpura Studios offers inclusive art, music, movement, and art therapy programmes for people who are often marginalised by intellectual disability, mental health challenges, or other life circumstances.
Some of our artists are unable to attend due to the cost or complexity of transport. By volunteering as a driver, you’ll be giving the gift of access — reducing isolation and enabling participation in meaningful, life-enhancing creative programmes.
As a volunteer driver, you’ll be responsible for transporting an artist to and from their weekly class. Locations vary across Auckland. It’s important that the journey is safe, punctual, and friendly, and that you embody the inclusive and respectful spirit of Māpura Studios in all your interactions.
A full NZ driver’s licence.
• Access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle with a current WOF.
• Comfortable engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Kind, respectful, and able to maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Punctual, with good time management skills.
1–4 hours – This may be a regular weekly driving role for one of our artists, a one-off trip as needed, or short-term support to fill in when others are unavailable. We plan to recruit several drivers to ensure the commitment is shared, so no one person is relied on too heavily.
