Coaching and Mentoring non - profit organisations
In this role, volunteers are part of a team that support and communicate with our not for profit member organisations, all over Auckland including visiting our members if required. By keeping in touch with our member not for profit organisations, it enables us to better understand the current and future needs for volunteers within these organisations. Team members engage in constructive discussions, build rapport, and help create a plan to meet the organisations volunteer engagement needs. This is all about building supportive relationships with organisations, big and small, to do the work that makes our world a better place!
Each team member is assigned a number of organisations. They are then responsible for ongoing contact and support, working with Volunteering Auckland staff. Team members report back via our online platform after any contact to ensure all relevant staff and volunteers are informed as needed and attend quarterly meetings. This ensures that organisational priorities are achieved and allow for collaborative discussion and feedback. The team is supported by other members of the support team and Volunteering Auckland staff.
A pleasant and friendly personality with a genuine interest and curiosity in exploring the work of non profit organisations and supporting staff/volunteers. The ability to engage others and elicit responses to allow for an in-depth understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by organisations. The ability to listen, reflect and respond appropriately to the circumstances. Volunteers are self motivated and operate with high levels of integrity and take personal responsibility for their work representing the face of Volunteering Auckland to organisations. Previous experience working/volunteering in the non- profit sector, or in a mentoring and coaching role will be advantageous. Training and orientation provided.
Excellent written and spoken English language skills are essential to the role.
Volunteers must have access to own transport to visit organisations. Communication also takes place by phone/video according to circumstances. Some travel costs to be reimbursed. Access to a (home) computer and internet are needed for this role.
In general working hours - Monday to Friday - Estimated 4-5 hours per fortnight. One year commitment expected as a minimum. Attendance at quarterly meetings (1-2 hours).
