Care & Connection Team
The Launch Community is a volunteer-led space for connection across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. We're an "unlikely community" - people with different backgrounds coming together with curiosity and care. We host monthly Stranger Social events to welcome new people and Connect + Expand gatherings for deeper relationships.
Our small Care & Connection Team of Launch Community Organisers is responsible for:
Welcoming newcomers at events, especially our monthly Stranger Social
Following up with new members through friendly messages and optional one-on-one chats
Keeping connections strong by checking in with regular members and noticing who might need extra support
Managing member communications including adding people to WhatsApp and newsletter lists
Maintaining our community vibe by gathering feedback
The Care & Connection Team also works collaboratively with the Events and Comms teams to ensure that events run smoothly, and we keep momentum in between events.
Experience connecting with people - whether through work, volunteering, or community involvement where you've helped others feel included, especially among diverse groups with a range of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and experiences.
Strong communication skills and comfort reaching out to people you don't know well
Reliable follow-through and great organisational skills
Good instincts for reading how people are feeling and what they might need
Comfortable with technology like WhatsApp, email, keeping track of information, and maintaining privacy guidelines
6-month commitment with around 5-10 hours per month
Attend monthly team meetings to coordinate care activities
Flexible timing - most tasks can be done when suits your schedule
Some weekend availability is ideal for events
