Care Home Outing Support - Greenlane

Volunteers are needed to accompany residents on their weekly outing on Monday afternoon 1.30pm-3pm. Volunteers will join an activities staff member and small group of residents on the weekly van trip to various locations in Auckland (e.g., park, beach, cafe, mall). The volunteer will assist residents with mobility needs (e.g., pushing wheelchair for a resident). These volunteers should enjoy spending time with older adults, are happy to work in a team, and have good communication skills. This is a great opportunity for a volunteer who’d like an activity-based task to do while getting to know the residents. Note this volunteer is not required to do any driving - the van will be driven by a staff member.

Requirements:

Most of all, we look for kind-hearted volunteers who are willing to give some of their time to help others. Volunteers also need to be reliable and comfortable to join the activities staff and residents on their weekly van trip. Volunteers need reasonable physical fitness (i.e., able to push a wheelchair for a resident). Training will be provided.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Monday afternoon 1.30pm-3pm weekly (fortnightly will also be considered)
