Studio/Creative - disability arts!
As a studio volunteer, your role will involve helping to set up materials before each class and assisting with packing up afterward. You’ll work closely with tutors, supporting them during sessions as part of the team. You'll also participate in class activities, including sharing circles, discussions, and warm-up exercises, all within the structure provided by the tutor. We ask that you arrive on time, stay for your agreed shift, and keep us informed if you’re unable to make it—life happens, and we understand, but communication is key.
Volunteering at Māpura Studios comes with many rewards. You’ll work alongside experienced art tutors and art therapists, many of whom are practicing artists themselves. Our team is extraordinary, and you’ll have the chance to be part of a vibrant, creative studio environment full of energy and focus. You’ll also witness the development of unique and compelling creative work by our talented artists.
You can expect a warm and inclusive environment, clear communication and guidance, opportunities to learn and grow, and regular check-ins with space for feedback.
It is important that you are able to fit in to the Mapura Studios culture - this requires emotional intelligence and sensitivity
• Inclusion - everyone is welcome and treated with respect.
• Expression - Every voice and story matters.
• Connection - Relationships are at the heart of our work.
• Respect - We honour the dignity and diversity of every person.
Studio volunteering requires approximately 3.5 hours once a week. We ask for a commitment of at least two terms (approximately 20 weeks). This is to provide consistency for our artists and staff. Other roles vary - please get in touch if you are interested in something else!
