Chartered Accountant Mentors
The Community Accounting Programme is a partnership between Auckland North Community and Development (ANCAD), Massey University and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. We provide free, confidential, professional accountancy support to community organisations.
Chartered Accountant mentors offer voluntary supervision for a small group of students (3-5) who are matched with a non-profit organisation to develop and complete a short accounting project for the organisation. (5-6 weeks duration).
The Community Accounting Programme, established in 2017, is overseen by a steering group with professional advisors. ANCAD staff community accounting lead coordinates all volunteers and arranges the programme.
You are a qualified Chartered Accountant or recently retired Chartered Accountant. (Certification and a reference are required).
You would enjoy mentoring senior students, post graduate and Master's level accountancy students with their professional development.
Ensure the student work is carried out to professional standards and is accurate.
Answer questions from the students relevant to the accounting project.
Support the students in gaining volunteer accountancy work experience within the non- profit sector.
Maintain confidentiality and avoid any commercial /client conflicts of interest.
Ability to meet the designated student group online a maximum of 30 mins - 1 hr for 5-6 weeks.
You may not be required to attend all weekly meetings.
Meetings are arranged online at the mutual convenience of participants with coordination from the ANCAD staff community accounting lead.
Available for one or more 5–6-week engagement per year depending on your commitments.
