West Auckland Conversation Partner

We are looking for volunteers in West Auckland to become conversation partners. As a conversation partner, you will provide your client with a great opportunity to enjoy social conversation. Following training you will be matched with someone who lives in your area and with whom you share some interests. You will visit your client each week for about an hour. Some of our volunteers also support a conversation group. Through the opportunity to have supported conversation, our clients build confidence in participating in community life. Our volunteers gain skills through training and are well supported by a speech language therapist and coordinator.

Requirements:

You will need to be a good listener and be interested in learning about different ways of communicating. Volunteers need to be fluent in spoken and written English. Your own transport is helpful but not essential.

Full training provided - Our next training is in February 2025 in West Auckland, across two days: Wednesday 19 February and Wednesday 26 February

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

One visit a week for about an hour - during working hours, Monday to Friday.
