Our charity organization One Big Family NZ is hosting a fund raiser offering Christmas present wrapping in exchange for a gold coin donation in the foyer of The Warehouse, Westgate from 19th - 24th December 2024 / 9am - 9pm each day.
We are looking for volunteers that are available to help during this busy but enjoyable time of the year.
If you enjoy wrapping gifts, have time to spare and really love the spirit of Christmas then this is your opportunity to wrap away until your hearts content!

There will be no special uniform, you wont be expected to wear a hot Santa suit, made to sing Christmas carols or spend the day saying HO HO HO.
** A black apron with a One Big Family Logo on the pocket will be supplied for volunteers to wear whilst wrapping the presents. You are welcome to wear your own style of comfortable, tidy, clothing (Christmas prints, red t-shirts, Christmas Santa hats and themed jewellery etc. is fine as long as it's nothing offensive or off putting to customers).

A staff member of One Big Family will be on each shift to answer any questions from customers about the charity and who we help etc.
In brief One Big Family NZ (OBF) exists to provide tailored support to those in our community who need it. We do this by sourcing good quality donations and redistributing them on to individuals, families, groups and community organizations that make good use of them. We also work in collaboration with other not-for-profits, charities, public and private sector organizations to help them meet the needs of the people they support.

Requirements:

** Due to the fact that there will be a lot of standing and moving around whilst wrapping the gifts the role may not be suitable for someone with a back injury.

Please feel free to apply for this role if you are:

  • Friendly, outgoing, welcoming and passionate about Christmas.
  • Talented at wrapping presents neatly in a timely manor.
  • Honest, reliable and patient.
  • Neat, tidy, well presented and happy to be representing the One Big Family NZ Charity.
  • A team player that is happy to assist other volunteers should they need a hand wrapping a large or tricky item.
  • Respectful of peoples choice of gifts and sensitive to the fact that some people may not have a lot of money to spend on Christmas gifts and may be a little embarrassed showing what they have purchased (they too deserve the right to have their gift wrapped beautifully just as you would an expensive gift).
** We are there to help the customers to save them time and effort by wrapping their gifts for them in the hope that it will be an enjoyable experience for both the volunteers and the Warehouse customers alike. If you are a Christmas Grinch or you don't enjoy wrapping presents then this is not an ideal role for you.
Time commitment:
  • A minimum of 3 hours is preferred and it would be great if you are able to do a couple of days to cut down on the number of different volunteers required over the six days however it is not a requirement. (Please note the car parking at the Westgate shopping center is a maximum of 3 hours free parking, for longer periods of time it is advised that you park on the streets close to the shopping center)
  • Ideally there will be at least three volunteers per shift to allow for breaks if and when required.

Time slots from the 19/12 - 24/12 are available as follows each day:
8.45am - 12 mid day /
11.45am - 3pm /
2.45pm - 6pm /
5.45pm - 9pm
